Over the past week the future
of rugby in St. Vincent has been secured with the admission as a full
member to the International Rugby Union.
The executive committee of the
St. Vincent Rugby Football Union was notified earlier in the week of its
upgraded status from associate member to full member.
The application was voted on by the International Rugby Board in a
recent meeting in Dublin, Ireland on the weekend of the 5th and
6th of April. The
meeting was attended by acting president Kelly Glass. Glass stated
that his committee is delighted with the announcement and they are looking
forward to more active development of the game in St. Vincent and
throughout the Grenadines Islands.
The St. Vincent Rugby Union
further proved that they deserved the membership on the field during a
two-day match with St. Lucia. St.
Vincent was victorious in both games. |
